Monday's afternoon tide at 14:15 on 01/01/2024 is still accompanied by unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds and large waves. However, waves will be smaller than recent days. The weather increases tide table values by 0.15 m. The total forecast tide is 5.97 metres Chart Datum (2.45 mAOD) at Newhaven, again lower than recent days. For 2 hours either side of Monday's and Tuesday's high waters, a small amount of spray overtopping could affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Wave heights and volume of spray overtopping will reduce by Thursday 04/01/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. We work to maintain the condition of the shingle beach which helps to protect the town from flooding. Avoid Seaford Sea Front at high tide. Flood water and stormy seas are dangerous and can sweep you off your feet. Spray will scatter shingle. We will re issue this Flood Alert if the risk of flooding increases.
