Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Wednesday's early morning tide at 00:45hrs on 10/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.17 m. The total forecast tide is 7.31 metres Chart Datum (3.79 mAOD) at Newhaven. Approximately 40cm lower than Monday night. For 2 hours either side of high water, strong winds and large waves will generate a small amount of spray overtopping which will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Wednesday's afternoon tide at 13:00 on 10/04/2024 is forecast to be a little higher (3.85 mAOD), although wave heights should reduce. Minor flood impacts could again be possible. Flood impacts should reduce from Thursday 11/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. At low tide we will check and work to maintain the condition of the shingle beach. Avoid Seaford Sea Front at high tide. Flood water and stormy seas are dangerous and can sweep you off your feet. Spray will scatter shingle. We will update this message by 18:00 on 10/04/2024.
