Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High river levels on Wednesday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 18 February 2026 as 15 to 25mm of rain is forecast on Wednesday to Thursday.
There is uncertainty in the forecast. The most likely scenario is for 20mm of rain. From 6:00PM on 18/02/2026, flooding could affect gardens on Hammer Lane, Grove Hill, and Mill Lane, Station Road, Church Lane and Church Road, Hellingly. From 6:00AM on 19/02/2026, flooding could affect North Street, River Lane, The Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston. If more rain falls than forecast, further isolated property flooding could be possible. River levels should peak by Thursday afternoon (Hellingly) or Thursday evening (Alfriston), then continue to fall on Friday (20/02/2026).
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid roads that flood (Mill Lane, Church Road, North Street).
