Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

Rain is forecast from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday. From 18:00 on 18/02/2026, flooding could affect gardens on Hammer Lane, Grove Hill, and Mill Lane, Station Road, Church Lane and Church Road, Hellingly. From 06:00 on 19/02/2026, flooding could affect North Street, River Lane, The Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston. If more rain falls than forecast, further isolated property flooding could be possible. Only isolated showers are forecast Thursday afternoon, Friday, and over the weekend. River levels should begin to fall by 12:00 on 19/02/2026 in Hellingly, and 22:00 on 19/02/2026 in Alfriston, and continue to fall Friday. River levels should return near to normal by Saturday. Unsettled weather could continue throughout February, with further periods of flood risk possible. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Avoid roads that flood (Mill Lane, Church Road Hellingly, North Street Alfriston). This message will be updated by 20:00 on 19/02/2026.
