Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have risen on the Alverthorpe Beck, Ings Beck due to persistent rainfall and rapid snowmelt.
Areas most at risk include Wakefield Westgate, Darnley including Rufford Street, Westgate Retail Park and Thornes.
Flooding is expected at Wakefield Westgate, Darnley including Rufford Street, Westgate Retail Park and Thornes from 4:30 AM on 09/02/2024.
Further rainfall is forecast throughout today, however river levels are expected to begin falling later on today.
We will continue to monitor levels closely.

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
