Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have risen as a result of the recent persistent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property and roads is expected. Areas most at risk are properties along Rufford Street, Moorhouse Avenue, Alverthorpe Road, Henry Street, Elder Avenue and the westgate at the Magdalene Chapel. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We expect river levels to remain high throughout the rest of today (06/02/2021) and into tomorrow. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast and checking defences. Please move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety and avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 20:15 on 06/02/21 or as the situation changes.
