Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are high but steady as a result of persistent and heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible between this evening and tomorrow, 07/02/2021. Areas most at risk are properties along Rufford Street, Moorhouse Avenue, Alverthorpe Road, Henry Street, Elder Avenue and the Westgate at the Magdalene Chapel. Further rainfall is forecast into the evening, but is expected to peter out overnight. We expect river levels to remain high until tomorrow. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water and move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
