Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

River levels remain high on the Little Stour and Nailbourne following recent periods of rainfall. Flooding is expected to continue to affect low lying land and roads along the Nailbourne around Elham, Barham, Bridge and Bekesbourne, and on the Little Stour around Littlebourne and Wickhambreux. Please avoid driving or walking through floodwater. As of today, Thursday 21st March, the weather forecast for the week ahead is drier than last week although some showers are forecast over the weekend. High flows and high river levels are likely to remain throughout March but are showing signs of reducing gradually. We are actively monitoring the situation, liaising with partners, and our staff are maintaining and clearing key structures. The Littlebourne Flood Relief channel is operating. This message will be updated by 6pm on Thursday 28th March 2024, or as the situation changes.
