Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

This flood warning remains in force due to high water levels in Allerton Ings. Levels in the River Aire at Castleford are now falling and water is no longer spilling into Allerton Ings, however, Barnsdale Road remains closed and is likely to remain impassable while levels recede. Consequently the risk of flooding to property continues.
Areas most at risk include Allerton Ings including the A656 Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater and Castleford and adjacent properties.
No further significant rainfall is expected over the next two days, however, a period of rain and snow is forecast late on Saturday 04 January into Sunday 05 January. We will continue to closely monitor the forecast as rivers will be responsive to any further rainfall.
Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Do not put yourself at risk by walking or driving through flood water.
