Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have peaked in the River Aire downstream of Castleford after yesterday’s rain. Levels remain high in the Fairburn area as water continues to accumulate in the washlands next to the river. Water levels are forecast to peak this afternoon but could exceed the level at which there is a risk of flooding of roads and some properties.
Our incident rooms are open and we are closely monitoring the situation.
Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
