River Calder at Horbury - The Strands

Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

River levels remain high as a result of persistent heavy rainfall and rapid snow melt due to Storm Bert. Whilst levels have fallen, more rainfall overnight (which may continue through this morning, Sunday 24th November) will see river levels start to rise again, peaking between 13:00 and 14:00 today. However, levels are not expected to get as high as they did yesterday.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Calder, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Horbury at Strands Cottage. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
