Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are rising on Walsden Water as a result of heavy rainfall this afternoon, and continuing into the night of Thursday 5th December 2024. The flood warning sirens have been sounded. Areas most at risk include Walsden from Bottomley Lock to Scott Street including Rochdale Road, Walsden Station and Walsden School.
Further rainfall as well as strong winds are forecast associated with Storm Darragh on Friday and Saturday. This could cause river levels to remain high for several days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated by 02:30 on Friday 6th December 2024, or as the situation changes.
