Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

The water level in the Bourne Rivulet remains high but continues to slowly fall. Upstream at Vernham Deane, the groundwater, which is controlling the level in the river, has been reducing for almost two weeks. Very minor impact flooding is affecting land in St Mary Bourne. Scattered showers are forecast today (29/03/2024) but will not produce significant amounts of rainfall. The forecast also suggests the rest of the weekend is to be fairly dry, but a further band of wet weather is likely on Monday. Whether the groundwater continues to fall, and the overall situation improves, will be very dependent on the volume of rain which affects the area next week. Our flood barrier will remain in place at St Mary Bourne to reduce flood risk. We will update or remove this message by 18:00 0n Saturday 30/03/24.
