Hellingly and Horsebridge on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers

Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The Cuckmere and Bull Rivers are high but are now falling in Hellingly, following 30mm of rain on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Flooding will continue to affect fields and rural roads, including Hammer Lane near Cowbeech, and properties at Grove Hill near Grovebridge Farm and on Mill Lane, Station Road, Church Lane and Church Road, Hellingly. Only showers are forecast on Sunday evening (05/01/2025) and Monday (06/01/2025). The Cuckmere and Bull Rivers through Hellingly are already falling, and should return nearer to normal by Monday afternoon (06/01/2025). Some roads may be impassable, including Mill Lane and Church Road. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 12:00 on 06/01/2025.
