Flooding expected. Take action now.
High river levels are expected to cause flooding on Friday.
Flooding is expected on 16 January 2026 from 04:00, as a lot of rain (25mm) fell on Thursday.
Flooding from the Bull River will affect properties on Station Road, Church Lane and Church Road, Hellingly, as well as the roads and land. Flooding from the Cuckmere River will continue to affect gardens of properties on Mill Lane Hellingly, as well as Grove Hill near Grovebridge Farm, and Hammer Lane near Cowbeech. However, the Cuckmere River is now falling near Cowbeech. River levels could peak higher than 09/01/2026. Only isolated showers are forecast until Monday. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce in Hellingly by 08:00 16/01/2026, and return nearer to normal by Saturday.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid roads that flood (Mill Road and Church Road).
