Flooding expected. Take action now.
The water level in the River Medina at Blackwater and Newport is high and rising. In the last 12 hours, heavy and intense rain has fallen, with 34mm recorded at Carisbrooke. From 10:30 this morning (Sunday 05/01/2025) in Blackwater, near Mill Farm, the river could flood Blackwater Mill buildings and property at Sandy Lane. Property on the riverbank at St George's Way may also flood. Further rain is forecast over the next 6 hours, with up to 10mm possible. This will cause the river to remain high until later this evening (Sunday 05/01/2025). Our operational staff are out on site checking that the river is free of blockages. We will continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection or take appropriate action to protect property. This Flood Warning will be updated by 21:00 on 05/01/2025.
