Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.
Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at Chesil Bank and The Fleet Nature Reserve and Ferry Bridge Marine Services, Portland Beach Road.
The detailed tidal information for those who use it is for a peak level at Portland Harbour of 1.91 mAODN at 8:00 PM this evening on 08/04/2024, with southerly force 7 winds. The second peak is at 8:00 AM tomorrow on 09/04/2024, with westerly force 7 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level - for more info refer to local tide tables.)
We will continue to monitor the forecast.
Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. We urge all people to take care and not drive through flood water. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Remain safe and be aware of your surroundings.
This message will be updated by 4:00 PM on 09/04/2024, or as the situation changes.
