Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High river levels on Tuesday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 27 January 2026 from 07:00, as a lot of rain (28mm) fell on Tuesday.
Flooding could affect low-lying land and the road at Rectory Road, nearest the railway line at West Dean as well as properties in West Dean. Rain is forecast to continue until 09:00 27/01/2026. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce in Dunbridge by 12:00 27/01/2026. Further showers are forecast this evening 27/01/2026. This may cause another response in river level.
We are checking rivers for blockages . We continue to monitor the forecast.
Consider activating any flood protection products you may have . We recommend moving cars parked close to the river in West Dean.
