Flooding expected. Take action now.
The water level in the Monks Brook is high and rising rapidly. In the last 6 hours, heavy and intense rain has fallen with 40mm recorded at Portswood. This is a large amount in a short period of time, falling on already saturated ground. Currently, surface water is flooding roads in Chandlers Ford and at Stoneham Way from Chestnut Way to the M27. From 19:00 this evening (04/01/24), properties nearest the river in Chandlers Ford through Hiltingbury, Cuckoo Bushes and Mead Road could flood. In Eastleigh, the river may flood gardens and impact property at Kingfisher Road, Pennine Way, Skipton Road, Magpie Lane and Brookside Way. Further rain is forecast over the next 6 hours with up to 15mm possible. The river will remain extremely high for at least another 2 to 3 hours after this time. Our operations staff are in Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh clearing debris screens in order to keep the river free of blockages. Please take appropriate action to protect property. This Flood Warning will be updated by 15:00 Friday 05/11/23
