Flooding expected. Take action now.
The River Adur is high and rising. 25mm of rain has been recorded in only a few hours at Itchingfield on Thursday, which is a lot in a short period of time. From 22:30 04/01/2024 flooding is expected to affect property at Slaughter Bridge on the Coolham road, as well as isolated farm buildings, fields and rural roads between Coolham and Henfield. It is possible water may approach gardens of Church Close, Shipley. Another 5mm of rain is expected through the early hours of Friday morning. Then very little rain is expected Friday daytime through to next week. The river should begin to fall by 06:00 05/01/2024, but will be higher than normal until Saturday. Some roads, including the Coolham road at Slaughter Bridge, may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast.
