Flooding expected. Take action now.
Water levels in Saltmoor and Northmoor remain high today. The Northmoor Main Drain Remote is 4.04m and is falling. The level in Currymoor is rising in response to last night's rain. Athelney spillway has started running into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. Pumping however has been paused at Currymoor and will resume when river levels allow. Rain has cleared south-eastwards on Thursday morning, leaving Somerset largely dry before another band of moderate rain moves in from the west on Friday. Patchy light rain is likely at times on Saturday, with a cold front on Sunday potentially bringing heavier rain.
Catchments are saturated and rivers very responsive to rainfall. We are monitoring the situation and checking floodbanks and spillways. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 1pm on 20/02/26 or as the situation changes.
