Flooding expected. Take action now.
The River Uck is high and rising. The equivalent of an average fortnight's rain during winter has fallen in just the past three days. With 20mm of rain recorded at Buxted in only 3 hours during Monday evening, which is a lot in a short space of time. From 01:00 28/12/2021 flooding will affect fields, rural roads, gardens and riverside properties through Buxted, near the White Hart pub and areas around Hempstead Mill on Hempstead Lane, Uckfield. Only isolated showers are expected during Tuesday morning, which should allow the river to begin to fall by 03:00 28/12/2021 and return to normal from 14:00 28/12/2021. Flood impacts could be similar to those seen in August 2021. Riverside properties are encouraged to install flood protection products if you have them and take steps to reduce the impact of flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 12:00 28/12/2021
