Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have peaked and are beginning to fall at the Buildwas river gauge following Storm Darragh. However, the risk of flooding of property, roads and farmland remains. The Temporary Flood Barriers along the Wharfage are in operation and have water against them. The Environment Agency will continue to carry out maintenance activities. The deployment of the barriers does not remove all risk, as the barrier system is a temporary structure. Observed Peak:- Buildwas 5.52m overnight Monday 09/12/24.
No further rainfall is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high until Thursday, 12/12/24.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
