Bersted on the Aldingbourne Rife

Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The Aldingbourne Rife is high, but now slowly falling. Flooding will continue to affect fields near Shripney Lane, parts of the Tesco car park and caravans at Riverside Caravan Centre on Shripney Road. No rain is forecast Friday. River levels should fall a few centimetres. Two brief rain bands Saturday morning and Saturday evening could raise river levels by a few centimetres. On Sunday 10/03/2024, a band of rain will spread from the east. If the maximum predicted rain occurs, river levels could rise a small amount again and minor flood impacts could increase Sunday afternoon. Flooding could again approach properties on Durban Road, Bersted. Flood impacts could remain in Bersted until mid March (15/03/2024). The Aldingbourne Rife might not return nearer to normal until April. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We are running our pumps at Felpham and keeping grilles clear to help reduce the flood risk. We will update this message by 11:00 09/03/2024
