Bersted on the Aldingbourne Rife

Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The Aldingbourne Rife is high, but now slowly falling. Flooding will continue to affect fields near Shripney Lane, parts of the Tesco car park, and caravans at Riverside Caravan Centre on Shripney Road. Some light rain is forecast at times on Sunday 10/03/2024, but river levels will probably continue falling. There is still uncertainty in the weather forecast, although even if Sunday's rain is more persistent, it is probable that river levels will rise by only a few centimetres. Very little rain is forecast on Monday 11/03/2024, but rain on Tuesday 12/03/2024 could raise river levels again. Flood impacts could remain in Bersted until 15/03/2024. The Aldingbourne Rife might not return nearer to normal until April. Please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We are running our pumps at Felpham and keeping grilles clear to help reduce flood risk. We will update this message by 11:00 on 11/03/2024.
